To start off our Spring 2014 session at Let’s Read, we continued talking about two different kinds of word we discussed last year: adjectives and nouns. After individual reading, we played a pairing game with these words. Each kid was given an index card with either an adjective or a noun written on it. Then they had to find a partner with the other kind of word. This made for some funny combinations. Tiny guitars. Silly sisters. Slow bikes.
After that, we played another game with index cards. One word per card, we passed out a mixed-up sentence, and let the kids work together to unscramble and make sense of the phrase. They did a great job reading, cooperating, and problem solving!
