In our third meeting of the new year in West LA, we had a great turnout—from students just learning to read, to fourth-graders reading chapter books. At Let’s Read, after students finish reading a book, they fill out a short worksheet about what they just read, including a new word that they learned. (In the picture above, you can see two of our students helping each other out with their worksheets.)
After individual reading (and a word jumble featuring Curious George), we all played a group version of Pictionary. Everyone drew a picture of something, then we mixed up and passed out all of the drawings to see if students could guess what the pictures represented. It turns out that we have some excellent artists—and guessers—at Let’s Read!
